Looking for help!

Hello peeps,

I'm fairly new to the community and I got laid off mid-November. I have prior experience in tech sales as both a BDR and AE in cyber security and AI SaaS offerings ( total 4 years). I have been looking for a job for over a month but I am not sure if it was because it was so close to the holidays that I had a lot of trouble landing interviews.

I have proven myself in these different industries being #2 BDR in a team of 15 and I always hit and exceeded my quota as an AE. I have been applying a lot in LinkedIn but idk if it's the algorithm or my resume does not fully reflect my expertise.

I'm here looking for advice, I have thought about finding a headhunter but I don't know where to start since it would be my first time using them. Any advice for headhunters or people who can help me with my resume that also don't charge an arm and a leg since I have been unemployed for over a month and a half and money is short?

Any advice would be very helpful!

What I’ve learned in my search so far has been focus on industries you’re knowledgeable/have worked in.

Resume needs to have concrete results with numbers to quantify impact.

The market is super saturated. Roles I feel like I’m more than qualified for have people exactly like myself applying.

For resumes- you can screenshot it and post as a picture in a new post. I’m about to do the same, we can get roasted together.

Lastly, don’t get discouraged - use all avenues available (referrals, cold outbounding to the HM, applying directly, finding different job boards outside of LI etc).

Ive had a few orgs I’d be excited to join and would be a positive move for my career and had plenty of other interviews that ended with me deciding it wasn’t a fit. But the practice is still super helpful to nail down talk tracks.

Best of luck out there

Do all of this! And the holidays absolutely slow hiring down.

Looking forward to a redacted resume so we can help you out.

You won’t get roasted! Well, probably not. Consider it tough love - you’ll be able to get some advice on how to brush up that resume.

Best of luck to both of you.

Cold outreach to hiring managers + tailoring your resume/CV to match the job you’re applying for (use the same terminology so it flags that the ATS). I’d keep the headhunter option as a last resort - with your experience and expertise I don’t see you stuck in this rut for long.

Best thing to do is change your profile to anonymous and post a redacted resume seeking advice on how to improve. This just costs you a little bit of time.

Alternatively within LinkedIn there is a function where you can request services including resume writing. You get connected to a number of people and can choose who you want to work with based on offerings, price etc. Costs will range widely.

Reach out to old colleagues and keep networking, it’s about who you know. Maybe someone can refer you for an open position ?

Hi, one thing you can do is search on Google "Sales recruitment agencies [put your location]" what this will do is provide you with all sales agencies in your area/state what you can do then is skim through them and only apply to ones where you can see in their site to claim to work with Tech/Saas companies. Send your CV but most importantly cold call them and give them a short summary of your background and that you wish to talk to a consultant. Hope this helps i know it worked for me. Wish you the best and keep us posted.
