Mid-Market Job Titles

I have a SMB rep in place focused on the very important mid-market sector of our business. It is an Account Executive role. I am struggling to come up with a good title for the position and am curious what everyone has seen. I'm reluctant to include "Mid-Market" or "SMB" in the title directly as it may offend the account/prospect but do want to define the role as separate from my Enterprise Account Executives. What has everyone seen in this regard?

Account Executive - Mid enterprise
There's no way SMB / Mid-market will offend anyone. The market is segmented in different ways, because of the very reason: They need different approaches. I have had so many CEOs / founders tell me they are a small company when they were mid-market company and visa versa. Don't worry about anyone being offended.

You can maybe use "Commercial AE" for this segment and "Enterprise E" for the rest.

I like โ€œcommercialโ€, or if theyโ€™re location based Iโ€™ve seen things like โ€œterritoryโ€ โ€œregionalโ€ or if product based you could attach that to it like โ€œservice account executiveโ€ or โ€œengineeredโ€ lots of choices!

That is my hope, it is reality and the needs are VERY different. Thanks for the feedback!

You're over thinking it. Customers won't care what title the AE has. If it is bothering you that much, just go with straight Account Executive as a title and only distinguish SMB/MM/Ent internally.

Just typed basically the same thing before seeing this. 100% agree.

Exactly so!
I've also seen "Commercial" and "Territory". But largely, the customers don't care.

Commercial or mid-market AE is just fine. There can also be different titles internally versus on their signature, and nobody will bat an eye on their LI title.
Nothing wrong with having 'Account Executive' on signature lines but having the MM tag on their contract etc.

All great comments - everyone is right, totally overthinking. What I did was talk to the rep and we settled on Mid Market AE. Really appreciate all the feedback!

you could do small AE, Medium AE, and Large AE or like 5'5 AE, 5'10 AE, or 6'2+ AE. Those are probably more offensive, 3,5, and 7 inches another way to go about that. I think there's a lot more worse things you can say besides mid market and smb no one should be offended by that

Love this dilemma! I would encourage your client/rep to focus less on Title and more on earning and growth potential.
I used to be so caught up in ENT vs MM but in reality, it's all about what the growth and earning prospects are.
