Pending commission paycheck to be honored after 2 weeks put in?

Curious how this works, with end of QTR and year coming if you where to put your two weeks in towards end of December. The commission someone would be due for closing deals in Dec or even 4th qtr depending on how the payment structure is. If you where to put in 2 weeks and be gone in Jan but theoretically be due commission check end of January.

Are you still entitled to that money?

Quit job, will you still get commissions you where owed if you stayed?

I think it depends on the company but I’d guess most good companies will honor it. When I moved on to another role, I was still getting checks several months later.

What does your comp plan say? That’s the first thing to check. Most will not pay out a departed employee, but it should be there in detail.

It's all about the paperwork. It's the right thing to do, but might not be necessary for them to do it. Most don't pay out

Fairly speaking Yes, cuz that was my deal unless the contract states something else in that particular case!

Depends on what your comp pay schedule is. Monthly quarterly etc. But I’m not a fan of anything over a month because that’s money left and you’re stuck.

Unless your comp plan specifically states differently, if you aren’t there you won’t get paid.

I think it depends on your contract. But in my experience most of the time it is still paid

I would not bet on it. A lot of companies would not. I even had one ask me to say an extra 10 days (my last day ended up being Dec 22nd) and no Q4 bonus.

When I left a sales job earlier this year I was given the commissions earned while actively selling until my last day. I was then paid out everything due when the period ended. I did have to forfeit all MRR past my last day, as that was only paid if collected by the company.

Almost every comp plan that I ever signed stated that one must be employed at the time of scheduled payout to receive any commission due. I've had a company honor commission on deals for up to 2 years after departure, though...

Check your comp plan/contract! That is always the answer.

Super important to check the fine print in your comp plan.

I have worked places where once your last day happens, anything on the table evaporates.

I have worked at other places where they pay you out on what's due, on the schedule it typically would be paid out (ex. 60 days in arrears).
