Principal SWE Recruiting to SaaS Sales? 8+ years BDM looking to break back into Sales

I'm a SWE Talent Advisor and Recruiter with 15 years' experience, 8 of which as a BDM for IT Consulting/Staff Augmentation services. I speak the language of software engineers and all things emerging tech. I'm looking to focus back on Sales and have an extensive client base of contacts from 15 years of IT Staffing to start with. Not to mention recruiting is absolutely a sales role, especially in extremely competitive landscape of software engineers so you can't fake it or you'll get eaten alive.

So looking for advice on how to crack back into sales given I have the contacts for most any software/hardware firm to start with and my bread and butter skills are rapport building, building trust and client engagement.

Any thoughts on where to start? I'm thinking AI Recruiting software given I use and know the products already but can really sell any software or even consulting services again.

Thanks all!

Maybe reach out to your old sales team peers when you were a BDM, see what they got going on

Another suggestion in addition to the excellent ones already here: check the company websites for the solutions you're using and see what open roles they have, then check your network to see who works there to learn more.

Thx, so far that's what I'm doing focusing on software I'm already familiar with or use and targeting sales there. I guess I'm more looking at how to "sell" myself in sales versus recruiting.

Ask Regis. You still have an option to call a friendโ€ฆ someone you sold before. Try it.

Iโ€™m not a detective but it seems like you may have missed something. Do any one of these contacts have a sales team?

These are Software and IT Leaders, they manage engineers, not sales. However these are the folks I would sell to so that helps me but they don't have sales networks.

Enhancing your network circle is my best tip for you including with your old fellas to see of any available roles would suit you, much of luck.

If you can sell anything then why arenโ€™t you cold calling VPs for a meeting to get yourself locked in as their next employee?

call the sales managers too. Multi-threading is very important.
