Quick Vent about Job postings and interviews

In the hunt for a new gig.

See a few jobs on different boards that advertise Sal+Commision based pay....

Get an email after applying, want to meet me huh? I knew my BA resume would get the job done...

Then I get on your zoom link....

You have 30-40 people on a zoom call, one or two with your company.... 40 hopeful people.

Some of the first words out of your mouth....

"We want to be transparent.....this is a commission only role."

Questions...

If you wanted to be transparent, why not say it in the job post?

Why did you not at least invite me in your office so when you wasted my time and took away some hope, I could at least tell you can actually see me mean mugging you...

If you have this trickery in your interview/application process... do better.

I think I speak for most that if you tell me its a job but then in reality its not, its an "opportunity".... you dont have interest, you got a pile of pissed people...

Tell me upfront its more opportunity focused from the get go and the people you will get are going to be actually interested...

Do Better....

Rant over.

Whatโ€™s the percentage. Whatโ€™s the deal cycle. Whatโ€™s the ACV. You could make a lot of money if itโ€™s 30 day cycles with high ACVs

My quibble is only with the dishonesty up front. They play those games, what else are they going to pull?

@powered My zoom connection dropped so I was t able to get the details. But donโ€™t tell a guy with a young family and mouths to feed your giving a sal+Com and then pull back and say no salโ€ฆ I get I COULD make good money but it could also be all hypeโ€ฆ.

I wouldnโ€™t tell a customer we can accommodate to get the meeting then tell them when they got there, sorry we donโ€™t actually fix that problem, but I promise youโ€™ll like our company

Sounds like an MLM company.

Sure they wasted your time with a BS interview, but better to know early than before you invested any real effort.

I have dealt with many an MLM, outside of insurance people who post on LI for job openings, most say, at least to me, that its an opportunity.... and if they don't I just ask the individual.

I have never been told there would be sal and com from a job post, had no screening call and then just thrown onto a mass zoom call like that.

I've never experienced this, but it's a load of BS.

Not worth your time or energy worrying about. On to the next one.

out of college multiple financial advisement companies tried to recruit me and they would start the call off the same way talking about rainbows and butterflies then right around the 15-20 minute mark go oh yeah this role is commission only, at which point I would stop them and say, if that's the case I am out, next time lead with that. jerkoffs. Sorry this is your experience.

Exactly, your opportunity may interest some, but it will likely not catch anyone over false pretenses.
