There was a discussion a few days ago on remote/in-person work and its trade offs when it comes to ramp up time. If it's your first gig, I think hybrid/in-person would serve you well for getting acclimated to the role.

Early in your career, definitely recommend at least some in-person. It's fairly easy to feel separated from your team if you're 100% remote.

I'm pretty sure @SADNESSLieutenant posted great content about working as SDR/BDR and good practices - search on

his name.

Thank you! I feel like there’s already so much isolation involved in the transition in graduating, that remote work would enhance that even more… I’ll keep my eyes open for hybrid roles!

I would recommend in person for when starting out.

Even full in-person for the first role. I'd personally take advantage of as much support as you can get, and the fewer hurdles you have when learning, the better.

I appreciate how smart you are to ask for help and advice even before starting.

completely agree with sunbunny here too. In my first role I had a desk buddy who I leaned on for everything. The more proactive you are starting out, reading books, joining forums (as you are doing) the better you will hit the ground running and outdo yourself daily

You both rock. I had a mentor of mine tell me about this app and I’m so glad I joined. Found a hybrid role with a company that sells a CXM platform, and it seems like an epic opportunity that checks a ton of boxes. Is it bad that it feels too good to be true?

Being a little suspicious in nature can serve you well in sales. Always question where a deal can go wrong, all along the way, and try to stay ahead of obstacles.

However, also be able to enjoy good things that come your way. I hope this job is as good as it seems! Keep us updated!

i know when i graduated college, if I had to do do remote only i would have failed miserably. I think there are many advatages to in office work when you just graduate. and i love working from home haha.

there are a ton of awesome Saas companies to work for. use RepVue.com to find some solid ones.

you got it! use the search bar to see what other threads are out there for new grads trying to get into Saas.

depending on what you need/ want, trying to get into the big companies first might be a good idea.

they tend to have more structure, more defined promotion paths, more resources

but at smaller companies/ start ups you will be able to learn faster if you can handle not having clear direction the whole time.

I will say I hate open office concepts. They are just a constant distraction. You see everyone's heads pop up whenever someone sneezes or goes to the bathroom. Best to just avoid the distractions.

Thank you for bringing this up! Never having really worked in an office before, I didn’t consider this. Though I’m not sure about the office layout, what’s the etiquette around this kind of thing? Is it a huge no-no to wear headphones/music to focus to avoid this? I’m someone that’s pretty easily distracted so having a plan to handle this possibility is 🔑

It depends on the office, so be sure to ask. The open office I was in allowed headphones, but I do not like listening to music when I work either. Before you know it I am sending a client Wu Tang lyrics.
