Recruiters/VPs/CEO's be gettin salty...

This has made my day in the job search, recruiters are now where job seekers were for years. They really haven't handled rejection well. Humm, funny how when the shoe is on the other foot.

Every recruiter I have turned down, will then call me, then beg me to reconsider. The CEO's and VP's that had no problem ghosting applicants now are getting really salty after being turned down.

One CEO gave me this massive project, with very little thought or direction on the "assignment" to prove my worthiness, hard pass, it's a job seekers market. Told him I was not interested, no reply.

One VP, when told them I was taking another offer said, "well no way you and this new team will beat my sales record..." what?!? I mean sure we are competitive people but have some dignity. The CEO at the same company pulled my offer with the caption "applicant made the wrong choice..."

All that proved to me is I made the right choice.

Lets have fun with this people, it's time to give these people the same treatment we have gotten for years in these annoying drawn out hiring processes.

Sounds like you absolutely dodged some bullets in not going with those opportunities. If executives are willing to be that petty and shameless towards someone not even on their team, I can only imagine what the work environment is like with them in charge.ย

All valid points, but itโ€™s worth remembering that this jobseekers market will not last forever. ย The clamour will settle down, and balance of power will shift back.

Iโ€™m a savage selfish bastard. Iโ€™m not in it for anyone but me, but I make a point of treating recruiters and hiring managers well. ย And so they remember me well.

Go get yours. I capitalized got a great new gig. Itโ€™s made a bunch of my dreams come true and Iโ€™m making hay, but be courteous. You donโ€™t want to do permanent damage to your reputation.

You couldโ€™ve declined the offer without telling him youโ€™re going elsewhere. It wouldnโ€™t have cost you anything except the pleasure of throwing it in his face. ย

I always apologize and say my circumstances have changed. Iโ€™m grateful for the opp, I hope they wonโ€™t take it personally, but I have to decline. Then I go whore myself to the highest bidder.

Food for thought.

Sounds like the right decision was made by you, their true colors came out after you rejected them. Good for you.

Hahaha crazy to see how desperate some recruiters/hiring managers get and feel insecured on getting rejected. But congrats you overcame them.

Recruiters are getting wild out there. I made the mistake of answering their call once & told them I was not interested in the role. They proceeded to call, email, & text me multiple times to "make sure my mind was made up"

Back in March I had a company rescind a job offer because I told them I needed WFH flexibility in my counter offer. I just kinda shrugged it off.ย

Now I run my own company, but if I was still a job seeker, I wouldn't waste my time with organizations that can't be flexible.

The high control stuff reeks of insecurity.ย

Absolutely they are, you dodged a bullet! These days are really highlighting the great recruiters over the terrible! Iโ€™m working with 1 of the 100 that reached out solely bc he didnโ€™t just throw random pops at me, some of them offering literally 1/2 of what I make now. Heโ€™s been the only one to actually listen to what I want, give me options and proceed as promised.
