sell on empty stomach? (day 1)

What's up fam?

When was the last time you did sth for the first time?

For me, on Wed night 8pm my time, hopefully, it's going to be a successful 72-hour fast. I'm talking only liquids (water / black coffee / sparkling water / what else?) and no food! nada. Zero.

I intermittent fast almost daily; with an 8-hour eating window. So, I'm used to fasting, but I've never done it for more than 20 hours straight.

Why am I doing this?

  1. We have 2 sales teams - one in India, one in US. Almost nobody is in shape in India team; almost everyone is in US team. You can call me decently shaped/fit, but I wanna get way better.
  2. Extended Diwali holidays in my country for next 3 days; I have nothing better to do. I would be working somewhat though, from home.
  3. I want to find out if I'm able to prospect the same way on an empty stomach? Calls? Emails? Research? Mood?

I'm going to keep documenting my journey on this thread, and run this as a 3-day experiment to find out if fasting helps in selling or not. I'm not an expert salesperson in any capacity, nor am I an expert fasting guru. But hey! Everyone starts with an experiment, don't they now?

If you have any tips for me - in terms of what liquids I can/should consume, things I should take care of, things I should measure every 6-8 hours (I am thinking of weight, waistline and energy during calls), I'm all ears fam!

Speaking for myself, Iโ€™d recommend you consult a qualified medical professional. How is a seller going to have an informed opinion on this?

Good luck, though. Would love to hear the end of this story.

I want to. But I'm afraid they might advice against it. I mean - who wants to be the doctor who says on record - "Yeah. Don't eat nothing for 3 days and see what happens!". Because if sth bad actually happens, they wouldn't want to take the blame for it.

Intermittent fasting is just skipping breakfast and it wonโ€™t make you healthier.

You didnโ€™t state any real goals other than just being in shape. To achieve that, itโ€™s simple - (1) eat right, (2) get plenty of sleep, and (3) exercise 5-6 days per week for at least 30min day.

There are plenty of ways to up your game here, but skipping breakfast isnโ€™t one of them.

I do intermittent fasting almost on a daily basis. First meal at around 3pm, last meal at around 9pm. It does up my game in terms of having more focus while working during morning hours.

I think I complete everything that's super important before 2pm: reading a book, taking my dog for a walk, getting some sunshine, journalism, stretching, exercising some days and almost entirety of my non-transactional work. I run every Sunday too. 8 miles give or take.

It's just that I had 3 days with me where I don't have to work a lot, and wanted to do something I'd never done, and also satisfy my curiosity of what actually happens after 72 hours.

Without proper nourishment the body and mind don't function as well as you would like. Eating a 9pm really is counter productive because you don't burn as many calories as necessary to stay fit.

The body will store the calories from food you eat at 9pm as fat, unless you are at the gym at that time.

Calorie counting, proper amount of sleep, eating the proper food as well as exercising will give you the best result.

Here is an easy reminder for good eating habit: Eat breakfast like a king, eat lunch like a prince and eat dinner like a pawper.
All the best.๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

I don't mind fasting. However, I don't feel or see any results out of the ordinary tbh

I do find when I fast I have more energy but that may be because Iโ€™m mainlining black coffee.

In the end to operate optimally you need to eat, your body will shut down and will get real tired probably half way through, which will obviously affect work. Do as others have suggested, eat right and exercise.

I am an insufferable asshole when I am hungry and would definitely be prone to snapping on a prospect if they got testy. Best of luck to you though! Excited to hear how it goes.

Yikes man. Also kinda blown away by all US in shape vs nobody in India in shape. USA is typically not the best at self governance in portions

I was half expecting a story that you are not eating because you can't afford to and try to stay in sales anyway. I was made to fast way too young and it left a permanent eating disorder so not for me.
