Sent a co-workers Commission Statement.....

Like the title implies, last month I was accidentally sent a copy of my co-workers commission statement.

Fortunately I read the name of the file in the email and deleted it before thinking to open it but it got me thinking. How would the community leverage information like this for either future compensation conversations or any other internal dealing.

Thanks!

Oh boy... for this exact reason, I pay all my reps the same %, same quota by segment, same accelerators, etc.  Way too many ways to get this wrong nowadays, plus, I love that my AE's can just talk about it openly.  The leader board is the leader board, and the trailers can do the math on the leaders' checks themselves.  Now, not everyone has the same base (working on that) but commission, at least by segment, heck yeah.  A deal is a deal.

Ours is similar but percentages are different between teams because of different quotas and the same OTE, although some teams have a lower OTE but no one really knows that. Helps to have a good friend in sales ops. The structure is the same and spiffs are the open and visible to everyone

Base at a starting number based on past experience, make it quantitative not qualitative...then base increases based on a set bar of continued performance!

What? Why did you delete it? The only one benefiting from your willful ignorance is the company. Wake up man!!! Be informed about your pay, just like anything else that matters in your life.

Dude just look. I mean, would you buy a car and not know what others paid? Would you order something online and not check the price elsewhere? So why would you blindly accept your pay, the means to your livelihood, and not be equally informed?

And here's the kicker: do you think your company has your best interests at heart or its own?

You should look. (I'm also in a similar situation, and set a call just now with my manager to clarify something I consider being unfair)

Fully agree! My wise wife said, that a company has no conscience - i.e. you have to look out for yourself!

The largest paycheck I ever received was somehow sent to another person in our organization with the same name... and he was no longer working there.

He was pumped thinking he had a huge severance and I was so confused because what was deposited in my account was the smallest paycheck I would have received ever at the company haha.

Good times.

I stumbled across a list of most of the sales teams comp plans that had been uploaded into salesforce. I read them all, told no one and renegotiated my pay when I hit my one year mark. I wasn't too far off from everyone... but it was eye opening.

I would kill for this kind of info. I am the top hunter and know I'm not making the same % as the next guy at my place.
