This was a huge turning point in my sales career. A lot of stress from my org as well as pressure I added to myself had me in a rough place.

I used to - and I feel like I should probably do it again. Would really help to have an professional unbiased opinion on how I handle things. I mean, we all gotta be a bit numb or our jobs would eat us alive.

A safe place to drop that guard for productive change sounds awesome rn.

Yes!!! That’s exactly why I started going because the numbness became so much that it affected relationships outside of work. Work in progresss.

Yeah it murders your empathy.

Great example - so when I was training and selling horses full time, I had to deal with a lot of crazy vet situations. Like, you can’t panic when an animal is profusely bleeding or injured. You need to stay calm and immediately handle the situation. If that means holding their guts in, it’s what it means. So you get really numb to that shit, and just think of what the best outcome is for the animal.

so I hit a deer once and there was no way to avoid it. I saw that it had broken its back and was still alive. It was going to die, but slowly and there was nothing anyone could do. So I calmly got out of my car, went in the trunk to grab a tire iron. I didn’t want it to suffer. I start walking towards it and then realized that there was a woman in a car behind me literally horrified. If I bashed the deer’s skull in, she would probably have PTSD for the rest of her life.

I put the tire iron away.

Wow! You’re so right tho. My S/O was in the army and is now a trauma nurse so we have these conversations quite often and wow I could never be in the medical field. 😂🥴

I go every week. Worth it 100% even if you don't think you're dealing with this. Everyone is dealing with something no matter how much they deny it.

You could ask your primary doctor for a reference! I personally just used Google and did research before I found mine. Thankfully I got lucky and the first one I saw turned out to be a great fit- a lot of people don’t “shop around” and quit because they didn’t find “the one” right away.

Thank you! I'm going to take my chances on one I found and see how it goes and if not, I'll try someone else :)

Yup. I was in the military for 12 years before sales. Stress is stress, whether it’s combat-related or not, and you GOTTA get rid of that shit

Seeing a psychologist was definitely a turning point in my career… …need something to maintain the anxiety and stress!

I did when I was younger, but haven't gone in a while. For those who are looking for someone, feel free to interview a few before making a decision. These people will be assisting you with complex issues in your life and you want to make sure you can trust them enough to open up.

No, but I've got more issues than Vogue so it likely wouldn't hurt.
