Todays Linkedin funny brought to you by the letter P

So I included the screenshot of the post, the funny part of his post is that it does hold some weight but he is getting shredded in the comments. I do believe there are circumstances which when explained properly and addressed without excuses then I think that there are things outside of salespeople control. Also never heard of this person so thats whatever

I think that character is more important than job history. From someone that has met unfortunate circumstances and been promised the world only to be left undelivered, I don't know how important job history is.

Exactly. Usually you get a gauge on this just from the interaction with the person. I had a stretch of 2 straight 7-8 month jobs. First, I left as an SDR to jump up to AE. Turned out to be a huge mistake, as the company was a shitshow and I had crashed and burned, ultimately getting laid off 8 months in.
Was asked about it during every single interview before my current role.

I was in a role for 2 months before my current role and I loved the company, they brought me in 2 months into the role to let me know the position was eliminated and they were going with a cheaper option. No hard feelings at all but circumstances are such.

Iโ€™m 60-days in. First IC role in 10 years. Product solid af. Org is ridiculous in ways Iโ€™ve never imagined. VP sales Slacks this morning. โ€œOkay everyone, 2 days left in the month. Weโ€™re gonna have to touch every deal. Letโ€™s get creative.โ€ Itโ€™s a fucking CRM. Deals working everywhere. Likeโ€ฆ whatโ€ฆ suck back all the contracts and lower the price? You fucking moron. Itโ€™s mid-quarter.

This will be a 90-day stop. Never changed my LinkedIn. This wonโ€™t make my resume. Better title at previous shit show lives.

Mind you, Iโ€™ve got a 12 year stint and 4-5s elsewhere. #SalesIn2023

I think that everyones circumstances are different, from an org standpoint you don't want to hire someone if 6 months into their tenure it's back to square 1 anyway

True. I guess for me I have hit quota, then I switched a few times, increased my salary and went back to the first company... Everyone is unique I suppose

Yeah, I mean I don't disagree with the sentiment 100% I also think that it depends on the org someone has worked for and such, IE, working for a larger tech company with solid marketing and demand is different than a startup that changes every 6 months.

Well, I do have four consecutive sub-18 month stints. Left banking after 6 years, couldn't get into B2B software sales, so I took a job working tech support thinking it might be a backdoor in. It wasn't, and I hated it, left after 11 months for an SDR job. Was there 10 months, halfway through I was doing the AEs job for him (demos, discos, negotiation, only thing he did was access Docusign) and felt I was already ready to be an AE anyway, got an offer and left. Was there Just shy of a year and they laid off everyone (aside from leadership and a handful of developers in Brazil). Grabbed the first (and only) offer I got after that layoff and it's my current job and yes I'm ready to leave after 8 months. In fact, I never wanted to take this job in the first place.

Am I a dented Dodge? Yeah, probably. I don't much like giving up though unless I absolutely have to for strategic reasons. And I have a spiteful streak sometimes, so I'll continue to apply for jobs if for no other reason than to annoy people like this.

The irony of his post is that he has 4-5 roles all under 18 months when he first started working.

People call him out in the comments for that as well. He defends it which is also ultimately ironic because he has a story to back it up which I guess is the point I am bringing up. There is a lot more to someone than a resume

So says the guy who's had 21 work experiences since graduating in English (completely useless degree) from Stanford (outrageously expensive school) in '98, and several <18month stints.

And now is a "co-founder" of an 8- year old "start up" copying what Gong does.

What obnoxious, nonsensical Linkedin headline do you use to covey the sophistication of your role in the workplace? Or What are the most ridiculous Linkedin headlines you've seen other people use?

20+ years ago I was convicted of making fake IDs. It just showed up on a background check during the hiring process. Do I send a note to my new boss explaining?
