To be fair, I’ve done it - but only as a small one liner to help explain a complex product.

example: workers comp claims

I had a severely broken arm and dislocated elbow, was a WC claim. Even though it was 3 years ago and I had surgery, the claim is still open because I get Accupuncture on it. This effects the reserves (how much a claim is expected to cost) on my former employers current policy and therefore the price of premium.

TL;DR - open claims = $$$$

I help get those claims closed and get your rates down blah blah

Holy $hit. Sounds like quite the injury. Hopefully recovery went well?

Yeah I mean I ended up with two giant plates and like 374858686 screws and I don’t think my external rotation will ever be the same but the insurance company is trying to get me to settle for $40k.

hint from an insurance broker:

never settle. Keep that med claim open as long as possible. Obviously the exact opposite of what I’m saying I can do in the original message but only good brokers and claims specialists know this so 😂

I voted yay, but with a qualification.  Nay to 'lame,' but  Yay to broadly applicable, TRUE stories that reflect either your values, your thought-leadership, or your perspective on the space you are in.  There's a reason posts that fit this criteria have so much engagement. Such engagement, consistently over time, is highly effective in removing the 'unfamiliar' tag from your name (granted you're connected with a number of folks in your ICP).  Done well, this strategy can move cold calls to warm, without a prior introduction.

I prefer real stories that are relatable but too many on there are ABSOLUTE BS and they are very much a nay from me dawg

Most of them are totally lame because they are usually made up or highly exaggerated since 99.9% of people have super boring lives just like the rest of us. If they were to share the truth about what happened in their life it would be painfully boring, so people make up sh*t, and it is pretty damn obvious.

It is just like reality TV, it is all scripted and made up because otherwise, it would just be too boring.

I say Nay as an extremely cynical hater of Linkedin. I've been thinking of leaving the platform for years and have personally never sold anything through it.

Maybe it's just me, or my market, but I've never seen it worth the time in general, so using personal stories is a no from me.
