The worst I got was (and it's no joke): "You are not cute nor smart, so just play dumb until you close the deal".

This was said to me when I wasn’t able to find him meetings for his work trip to San Diego which was actually a vacation but he was trying to say he had to go for meetings.

Long story but the short version is it was a commodity sale in med device that wasn’t on a GPO and we had zero contractual relationships with any health systems to leverage. I ended up being ROTY the next year.

I've been through quite a few myself, and I don't have a "preferred" training method. I've picked up favorites from each. SPIN selling is another good one that's not listed.

Just be yourself, talk less, ask more. You don't need to follow a methodology. At the end of the day those books are written by sales guys trying to sell their product.
