Whats something fun you learned recently

I have been re-reading "Never Split the Difference" by Chris Voss. Its interesting taking the principles and applying them to scenarios from my past and against my current position to gain new insights.

I am sure I'm not the only one into personal development and also staying educated.

As sales people, I am curious what is something you have learned recently that has been meaningful or interesting to you.

Take the PTO. The bullshit will still be there when you return.

Having worked with a global company and global clients, the way the US views PTO and time off is soooo bizarre and toxic. Luckily some companies are seeing the light and offering more PTO from the get-go. Some even offering 'unlimited'.

That book is a true gift. I practice those skills all the time when I have to hang out with family. I have a handful of unhinged family members who like to press their political beliefs relentlessly. Itโ€™s amazing when a few small tweaks in language can help disarm a lunatic.

One of my colleagues has been in the game for decades longer than I have, and something he always reminds me of is, โ€œthereโ€™s no such thing as a sales emergencyโ€

This kinda goes back to the point made by @curiousfox, but also a good reminder that you donโ€™t have to always be โ€œonโ€ nights or weekends or have someone elseโ€™s poor planning create an emergency for you to deal with โ€” itโ€™s not like we are saving lives in the ER, we donโ€™t make decisions about nuclear war, we sell things โ€” and thatโ€™s not a diss to us for not doing those things, itโ€™s a just reminder that we can chill out every now and then

Duolingo app - learning German currently - such an aggressive sounding language, could be fun to let off some steam when I'm feeling edgy at work. Want to do French and Italian as well. Sky is the limit!
