Stingy accomodations for social event for work

Company is being super stingy and I feel obligated to show up because I’m remote and it’s the best opportunity I have to put in some face time with the team but it is technically an optional event.


What do I do? The hotel looks like a dump and I don’t feel its fair to pay out of pocket for an upgrade to attend a work event.

Swiss chalet lodge or whatever that dump in Cambridge, MA, was, is the only hotel I have ever checked into, then done a 180 and left immediately. And the manager of mine who had suggested it in the first place was scolded into deep shame by his wife. If that’s the kind of place - then yeah, I’d understand.

Quick update on this: I spoke to my manager about it and sounds like I’m not the only one that has an issue with the accommodations and there might be an update on Monday about the new arrangement.

No personal stories. They gave the option for us to pay extra if we wanted our own room which I did without hesitation.
With 50K+ sellers chances are you're going to get bunked up with someone odd.

I know a few companies that do/did that but it was typically small companies where the team already knew each other and budgets were tight. Either way, not the best way to go.

Since, the downvoter for both sides remains ANON, and you're willing to hold a fair investigation to find out, I request that the downvotes records history to be publicly published to see how's the one to blame even it was someone that chose to set the fire up between me and Cadence.
Unless, you're considering that Downvotes and so as Upvotes are considered as a part of Freedom of expression right to each member so, I believe there's no one to blame then.My suggestion here at that point to keep the WR a better engaging platform experience is to ban the option of downvoting older posts/comments as long as they past a specific duration besides, No upvoter shall have the right to de-upvote/downvote a selected thread after 1 to 2 hours from his/her initial action by assuming he/she performed that relevant action by mistake.

You got your PS5 through your efforts, proving that downvotes don’t deduct from your bank, they just make it harder to gain positive points.
