AE to SE?

I'm mildly considering the idea of navigating from being an AE to an Sales Engineer.

Wondering if anyone has made a similar shift (especially if it was going from one company to another) and what that looked like.

Yrs of above average performance in the AE seat. A LOT of burnout in the last 18 months or so.

The part I seem to enjoy most is the solutions process as we learn more from discovery.

Feels like a direction I should at least be thinking about.

I just did this 2 months ago (was AE/AM for 7 years) and am the happiest I’ve ever been. Feel free to DM me and I can answer any questions you have

I haven’t but know multiple. Both just had transparent convos with their leaders and SE managers. They were both great reps so it made the transition easy for them

Seems an interesting switch. Also interested, would that hurt you financially?

Yea, still weighing that notion. It’d be a trade off between income and quality of life for sure.

May be helpful to discuss with a current SE about their thoughts on the role so it isn't just a "grass is always greener" thing
