AE vs SE

Curious since I've taken a slightly different path in my sales career, but I was wondering in most organizations are SE paid more than AE or the other way around?

Originally I was going for AE for the money, now I am in a SE role and I actually dont mind it.

Wondering what you guys are seeing out there.

AE will always make more, since they have bigger variables. You can make decent money as an SE though.

My title is actually Sales Executive, but I suspect you mean Sales Engineer.

No, it’s the same thing in this case.

This is why titles aren’t as important as the role. SE can equal AE; SC can be Solution Consultant which can be the same as Solution Engineer or Sales Engineer.

AE will almost always make more than the SE. AE is typically managing more and the SEs get involved in more complex sales as needed. usually the SEs have a larger base due to this and a lower commissionable amount(if any).
