a prospect, after a short discovery call where we agreed I could come to site for a better understanding of his issues, then followed up the next morning with an email
in it he asked, no, demanded I give him customer contact details of individuals I've worked with before we progress so he can see what experience they've had with me
I'm the founder of my own company so I get a bit of rope here
Am I the asshole for politely declining his request given that we haven't met before. I don't want to give out my customers numbers to prospects (all of whom i have a good relationship and want to see me succeed) in the same way I'd imagine he would not like me to discuss any of his business with others
anyway he hasn't replied after I offered him some expert consultancy in lieu of references for now. and bloody hell, if he goes through my process and thinks I'm a fit I offered him a site visit to one of my customers
thoughts please. should I have handled this differently
thanks
