Any absolute must-avoid sectors right now? Or anyone in a really hot niche?

Been applying / networking to jobs in different industries, and just trying to see who's doing well. Are you killing it? Are you getting killed? I want to hear your experience! Or if you just wanna bitch about your boss talking you to death in weekly 1:1s, feel free to share that too.

I wasn’t going to comment here but after reading your next post… Yes, avoid the unemployment sector. Ask for the job you want, all day long. And ask for the job you’re not sure you want also. Cherry-picking a hot sector is entitled bullshit. Go make money at a job you hate. Then you’re bullet proof.

Nothing wrong with seeking the ideal spot. And I fully get the PTSD that comes from no PMF. But if the solution actually has a problem it solves, the differentiator is he who sells it. It’s all a grind right now. You got this. 🫵

Cybersecurity, web security, CRM stuff...I really don't have a preference tbh. Been applying to any company on RepVue with openings and solid ratings.

rare to need to avoid an entire sector but figure out if what the company sells is a nice to have or a must have both sell fine in a hot economy but with a recession looming purses are gonna get tight

Don't go selling into anything that isn't a revenue generation sector unless you can show massive $$ savings. Don't sell into cost centers - HR, Marketing, etc. Those are experiencing falling budgets and cut staff.

Data centers are super hot right now, figuratively and literally. Selling power, cooling, bare metal, etc. is almost like shooting fish in a barrel as long as you can keep up with the acronym changes, supply chain issues, AI/ML requests and all the other wonderful pitas thrown at you daily.
