Anyone else a little frustrated with the amount of recruiters that ghost you after they reach out to you for an interview?

Is anyone else a little frustrated with the amount of recruiters who ghost you after they reach out to you for an interview? I just don't understand why they make the effort to email me or reach out via LinkedIn just to go dark.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I hear ya! I have a few interviews this week that I had to follow up a few times to get to the next round.

The worst! Or when you hop on a call and then hear absolutely nothing afterward.

Exactly! You’d think when dealing with Sales people they would at least send something that said they’re not interested anymore.

Had one reach out in August, did a phone screen, looked like we were aligned on the job, my experience, comp expectation, etc. Told me she'd be in touch on next steps to interview with hiring manager. Week goes by, nothing. Follow up, get told hiring team had some end of summer vacations which delayed the hiring process, next steps would be "soon." That was 4 weeks ago. My follow ups this whole time have not gotten a response. At least have the decency to tell me I'm a loser and should get lost.

That’s the worst! I think most sales people would like a get lost email regather than a ghost 👻

Wednesday September 27th I received a DM on Linkedin from a recruiter asking how things are going at my current company (yeah, like I was going to tell him!!!)

He also asked if he could interest me in having a confidential chat about a position he is looking to fill.

I answered him the same day and said it didn't hurt to talk, any chat would of course have to be confidential.

By Friday October 6th I had not had any response from him, so I messaged him saying "no longer interested in talking" and removed him as a connection.

Recruiters and headhunters are sales people, but they are dealing with you as human merchandise and they are logically going to be more focused on the customer (who they are recuiting for) than the pool of (human) merchandise that they think they can draw from.

Is it frustrating? - only if you answer them and get your hopes up.
From now on I'm going to have fun and ask them sarcastic questions instead of answering the requests for "a confidential conversation".

Keep in mind the amount of talent out there from the years layoffs to sift through, but yea, recruiters are scum.

Rejected by recruiter for SDR position before any interview, despite having referral and track record. My inner-salesman is telling me to ignore the rejection and start reaching out to Sales Managers directly.
