Anyone getting the reverse boomerang job offers?

Anyone getting job offers from their previous company except they want to offer a lower salary?

I can see some people taking the job simply to make ends meet, and then plan to leave as the economy shifts.

How are you handling them if so?

If you need a job, take when you can get in the moment. You need to provide for you and yours.

That said, low ball offers tend to get what they deserve. No one says you have to stay somewhere which doesn't value your time the same way you do.

Yep - grab it and parlay. So much easier to get one when you got one. Feed yourself and split.

If my old company tried to hire me back at less money I might actually laugh in their face

Yea this is super the answer. If you need a job take it but if a company lets ya go without much resistance or cans ya a lessor offer down the road is silly

Tough call: you’ve gotta decide between telling them to
A) go fuck yourself
B) suck a bag of dicks

Somebody just won the internet for 2024 and it’s not even January 10th. Guessing that whole “Dry January” thing isn’t your jam?

I simply laugh at everyone who got hired at my last company after the massive RIF. They all walked into a buzzsaw, and I don’t think I’m willing to lose another limb for it.

If you have a job, and your old company comes knocking they have to at least pay the higher of your current or previous pay.

If you don’t have a job, and they call you it’s a shitty move on their part but you gotta take what you can get.

If you call them and got back for less money they will abuse you until the day you quit.

I haven’t heard of the lowball boomerang before now. Interesting recruiting model.

That’s an interesting move, never heard of this happening before since salaries never go down

If this would happen to me I would be negotiating a lot to get what I deserve

If you need it to make the ends meet sure take it but keep looking. That is not really what I would accept

I would love to listen to an old boss or HR explain how they need me to come back, but think I am objectively worth LESS than I was before.

If you don't have a job, something is better than nothing. Recruiters will always prefer hunting for talents who are working for competitors...

Agreed, yet the new company doesn't want to pay what it takes to lure them away.

i've had one from a big red sub but it was not for less money.

previously you could not return after exiting twice, which i'd technically done.

it seems uncle larry is having a change of heart.

I haven't gotten one from my previous company, but I DID go through an entire interview cycle, happy hour with my potential colleagues, and verbal offer before it being pulled 12 hours later via text from the hiring manager.

i've been through that. That's when I take a picture of the devil and send them a pic and expain "thanks, I've updated your profile picture"
