Automation for lead gen?

I've heard a few people throw out the term "automation for lead gen". Probably because that's the product they are selling.

But is there anything out there that works? Something using AI? 

I ask because my sale is awful:

1. Long sales cycle for a big decision 

2. I get no SDR/BDR support 

3. I get no inbound leads 

4. I largely start from square 1 for contacts with no contact info confirmed from a previous rep

Wild, I know. 

If I could generate leads (somehow) that would help.
