Bad news today

So the company that was paying me to do nothing, brought me on a meeting and said look the product is still far out, we're paying you to do nothing right now, so we're going to have to let you go. Sorry it had to be like this.

It was fun while it lasted, probably shouldn't of said anything to them about getting me to do stuff.

luckily i'm young and I got to have fun for the 8 months and got paid to do it, but now I feel Its time to grow up.

still young enough to not know what I want to do, I do love sales, ever since I started in insurance at 18, but there's also other jobs that interest me. Still young enough to try and figure it out, but also at the age where I should start finding a career or go get my MBA or law school.

Really don't know what to do, any advice is appreciated. Really scary halloween this year.

The only thing you can do is cast a wide net keep applying. Check out Corp's job board https://stillhiring.today/ and here's some gubberment work board https://www.usajobs.gov/.
If you need a job quick, look for restaurants and be a server there's so many restaurants that are underemployed rn.
I'm sure soem of the more senior savages will chime in. Good luck dog.

For sure bro, it seems like you dig sales I would grind it out. You're lucky you're 23, if you keep down the tech sales route there's plenty of loot to be picked up.
Not saying you can't switch to something else but you kinda start from 0 if you switch industries.

Donโ€™t get an MBA unless you are attempting to pivot into finance or VC work. A law degree means nothing if your LSAT canโ€™t get you into a top 5.

Figure out what and who you want to be and then find a company that aligns with your plan.

HA! dude you are fine, I didn't figure my shit out until at least 30 and I've got it all set at 36.

DO NOT let yourself get eaten by this idea you need it all figured out already. Go have some fun and try new things and make some mistakes, nobody likes bland boring safe people. Go work a job that you never knew existed!!

Right on. It took me a while as well. And my role/job/industry did not exist when I was 23. Just saying.

Growing up is a myth, its just doing enough trial and error to have learned and having enough responsibilities to have something to lose or maybe just letting responses hit your head and vetoing them before it hits your lips.
You can start looking at your options but think less in growing up and more in finding your fit. Often you'll find that eventually you become a master at a weird combination of things that are in demand.

For example my brother went to school for pre med, got in some trouble and they made him do the shuttle driving and get a CDL for community service turn that into a UPS job and then he found an opening for a organ recovery specialist. This is something that most people know exists and he has made a great life in it where they fly him around to get tissue off dead people.

Just do you man, don't let other peoples timelines effect yours.

Shitty, but you're definitely still young and have more than enough time to figure yourself out.
I'd stay in tech sales for now, and see what else interests you as you make money and gain experience. Maybe software that's adjacent to one of the fields you're considering.

yeah thats what im thinking, I just messaged a vp of sales who's offered me in the past if theyre still hiring, so hopefully that works out and a girl I know just set me up with a regional director in sales who's looking for someone in investor relations so ๐Ÿคž something happens quickly

Sorry to here that. But dust yourself off. If sales drives you, keep on the hunt for a new company. Keep sharpening you skills. You don't need an MBA or Law school unless that's what truly want to do. All the best!! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Well Wolfordtampa, it looks as though you have a whole lot of soul searching to do. You are part of the WR so don't hesitate to use this resource if needed. Always remember, "the only time you fail, is when you fail to try." All the best. ๐Ÿ‘

Bummer but sounds like you'll survive. Be sure you apply for unemployment benefits.

I firmly believe that you never regret Education. If you can afford it - get that law or business degree. And get it from the best school you can afford.
Good luck in whatever direction you decide to take.

Best of luck! You can do anything you set your mind to. Age is just a number. Don't think otherwise. Hell you have plenty of time for both MBA and law school and sales. Sorry it's a scary Halloween... But guess what a lot of places ate hiring now for January
