Biggest email mistake

We have all been there. You hit send and moments later you realize that you made a mistake on that email you just sent.

The small ones like forgetting to use the right title, spelling a name wrong, or forgetting an attachment are a dime a dozen.

I want to know about that time you really fucked it all up. Like the time early in my career when I "forwarded" (read replied) a message to a coworker saying "I'm charging this asshole more for every subsequent meeting he makes me do" or when I sent the wrong proposal showing lower pricing to a client I assured they had the best pricing possible.

Let's hear the best of the worst.

lol I have done this many times on accident courtesy of autocorrect. Fortunately most people are familiar with that shit.

I mean, it's a real major. Lots of people's moms graduated summa cum laude.

I used to sell to public safety. It’s a common error.

I made it worse by referring to my keen attention to detail in my cover letter

I removed "attention to detail" off my resume due to similar experiences.

Lmao not an email but I accidentally texted my boss what I meant to text my friend. Saw my mistake and did my best to save it haha.

I told the CEO of my first start up “I love you baby” on more than one occasion via text. His name was next to my wives in my phone. He was a good sport, but still.

I'm 1000% sure I've made a bunch but pretty sure I blocked them out my memory, for my sanity...

Not an email, but I have accidentally slacked the person I was talking shit about directly instead of a friend. Always awkward AF.

sending out an incorrect quote is always the worst. Or sending it to the totally wrong person. That's the extent of big email screw ups that I can think of though.

Read replied instead of forwarding saying "sorry there another amendment, this person is a right bitch"

Needless to say the account got given to someone else

Had a prospect literally yell at me for 10min for NOT BCC’ing all the emails in an email blast. He thought he was the 💩and not I had shared his personal and private info (which I got from his business card) with the world.

I have said “love you” to many colleagues, and my boss. Probably 10 times in the last 10 years

Told my senior director to shut up one time because he g chatted me the same time as someone else who told me something Hysterical and I chatted back the wrong person. I explained the situation and the senior director laughed it off but for ~5 minutes I was ready to be fired.

I have two:

I signed off on email with “best retards” to a very large account early in my career.

I also replied to a customer when I meant to forward to colleague with “WTF, if they don’t answer me by Friday I’m going to Howard. (President of that distributor)” they called my boss and had me written up for foul language bc person i sent it to is very religious and was extremely offended. I tried to pass it off as “Wednesday, Thursday, Friday before I got to Howard” it did not fly but my boss laughed while he wrote me up.

Enterprise Sales Lead
We have a lead gen that drops leads and their info into our sales inbox with a subject line of "New Lead!"

Usually I change the subject line and just reply in that thread, because it has their info and the message they included.

Just had a really really hot lead come in last week and...forgot to change the subject before sending 🤬

My AE did it. She wrote "Send Your EGO" instead of "Send Your RFP". I wondered for good 20 mins why she did that, finally realising she made a keyboard boo-boo

[letter R is right next to E, G next to F, O next to P].

P.S.: we neither got their RFP, nor their EGo
