Brand new wanting to get my first SDR job

Hello! My name is John Brooks, I'm really wanting to change my current job and get into an entry level sales position but I'm having trouble deciding how to do it. I don't have any experience so are there any suggestions for me on where to start? I was looking at a couple "bootcamp" type courses (Course Careers, Tech Sales U) but I'm not sure if it would maybe just be better for me to just make my resume and linkdin top notch and start cold emailing/messaging sales department managers? Any advice would be appreciated. I work hard, I'm very social, I'm a team player and I have no problem making 1,000 cold calls a day and getting rejected just as much if it means I'm contributing to my teams ultimate success in whatever environment. My wife has told me for years I should go for it so I'm wanting to take the leap.

Check out the academy for interviewing and searching for a role.

Hiring Managers are typically looking for a person who is persistent, coachable and motivated. So make sure to tell stories of that.

Hard to rebuttal while I'm at my current job :). I do have what it takes because I'm the most persistent coachable and motivated person you now have the pleasure of speaking with! Tell me no and I will not stop.

I love your current work title but what is a delivery expert. Like what constitute an expert, do you get the pizza to the location at warped speed. Just kidding, I couldn't help myself. 😂

On a serious note makes sure you take full advantage of the platform and the many cast of characters that are on here. They truly know their craft and how you can navigate through the tech industry.

I'm not from the tech industry but my advice to you is start investing in yourself by viewing, reading and listening to what you need to make yourself an expert in the tech industry as well as sales in general. Don't let anyone stop you from getting what you want. You can do this. All the best.

if you’ve had a career thus far I would suggest against course careers and shopping around first. course careers markers towards people in dead end jobs trying to find a role making 60k OTE

source: in the process of breaking in right now and went through some final rounds last week.

Hey John,

I've been in your shoes - sales bootcamp thing and all (now there's Bravado)!

Did the SDR role for ~2 years with 100%+ OTE

The best pieces of advice I can give you are:

1) Before making those calls, know who you're calling and why. Make them aware of the problem they're having and how you've solved it.

2) Don't be so open to rejection, overcome unreasonable objections, and push to meet and discuss legitimate ones.

3) Learn some tech stack; get free trials or watch videos of the lead-gen tools, CRMs, or SEPs you might use.

4) Lastly, build your own workflow - like blocking out times for calls, emails, prospecting, and building pipe.

Hope this helps!

There is a company I started at called MemoryBlue they pretty much take brand new SDRs and train them. You will work with multiple clients in multiple industries so you can try out a lot and see what you like and they help you find a job at various tech companies.
