BRIBERY GIFTS

Hey y'all,

I'm selling in a competitive space, really just getting started building my pipeline at the new gig.

I wanted to see how you Savages go about sending bribery gifts to clients to catch their attention/affections.

Sorry, I mean, marketing approved expenses. Bribery bad. ๐Ÿ™„

Do you send prospects gifts?

I couldn't agree more. Stuff that people will remember you by is what counts, in this case for handing out gifts, the thought doesn't really count.ย

Yes but itโ€™s gotten tough with everything being remote and I hate doing a lame gift card. Tried doing something like sugarwish and it works fairly well but the email sometimes goes to spam so you have to tell them to look out for it which is annoying.

Iโ€™ve had good results with tactical gifts. But since every sales manager wants replicable, scalable sales motions, it can be a challenge mostly to explain methodology. Iโ€™ve used gifts to get attention, but mostly to show appreciation to a solid contact, often an early champion. Remotely, it is an email so they can anonymously redeem things to their home address, and I back it up with a phone call/message to alert them to the email.

That's the thing, I've always sent gifts to my strongest accounts๏ผŒI have no experience with using them with new business. I have co workers who offer starbucks gift cards in exchange for a virtual coffee, I'm trying to see how common this practice is.

I like the approach if you can spin it as โ€œnormally Iโ€™d love to offer a quick in person meeting over coffee, but since (reason here; time, not traveling yet, wonโ€™t be in their area for a while but wanted to intro yourself) , Iโ€™d like to send you a Starbucks card and we can meet remotelyโ€. Or something along those lines. I got about a 50% hit rate, and the ones that declined were either polite or just ignored it.

I've been at companies where we offered coffee gift cards, didn't do a whole lot.

Why give coffee when you can give mugs? The same goes with gift cards, people like wearing free stuff. I think meaningless gifts like gift cards WON't take you very far when building a relationship. Things that people like and use are quite different. Even USB drives would be cool to receive

The mug idea is smart, it's like putting a targeted billboard ad into their cupboard

My company does pretty legit gifts post demo. AirPods, Apple Watch, ring doorbell, drones, those new ray ban video glasses.ย

We should be sending goodies to our prospects and current customers! All that shit goes a loooooooooong way, plus try helping the frustrated local designer that would love to do stupid shit like this for companies. Ahem, me being one of them in my free time.

Gifts, yes gifts. No being creepy or weird about it. Say itโ€™s from your company, not yourself.
