Changing sales industry

Been offered a competitive position within a totally different industry. Tech-sales to B2B retail goods sales.

The idea is intriguing and think I could have very good success as they are a market leader for their industry. Completely understand there would be a ramp up aspect to learn the ropes but potential to make a lot more sales.

Anyone who has moved industries before have any thoughts on it?

I don't think there are that many people that stay in the same industry for their whole careers these days. Sales is a transferable skill - so transfer it!

exactly my thoughts, also pretty confident I've gained enough tech sales experience now to make it a safety net. Thanks @jefe

It's an advantage IMO to have a couple of industries under your belt.

Smooth seas never make good sailors. If you want the challenge and something new I say go for it. I changed industries a couple of times and feel stronger for it.

I think it would be a good experience. I think you regret the things you didn't do more than things you did do. And you have the offer in hand so they believe you can do it!

you will likely regret it if you don't try it.

It's refreshing to see someone get an offer in a different industry rather than struggling to find a toehold and get even an interview.
You sound excited - so why not?
And you can always come back to tech....now with retail experience under your belt. Hello, new vertical.

This is my thinking, but always conscious of rose-tinted glasses so thought I'd get the reassurance from other sales pros! Appreciate it @Sunbunny31 , definitely sounds exciting to me to explore. No failure in trying
