Characteristics of a qualified salesperson

I came across an article and thought it was pretty accurate as far as the 4 main characteristics that make a good sales person

  • Assertive: goal-oriented, competitive, decisive, impatient, controlling, loud; more likely to speak in sentences than in questions
  • Amiable: patient, friendly, open to challenges, calm, informal; often good listeners who ask many questions and seek strong personal relationships
  • Expressive: people-pleasing, convicted, colorful, persuasive, outgoing, creative, spontaneous, intuitive, loyal, enthusiastic; also likely to speak in sentences instead of questions and seek strong personal relationships
  • Analytic: impersonal, fact-driven, formal, serious, direct, patient, prepared; likely to ask many questions and not seek personal sales relationships

Hi Tim, you're new. You'll get the best engagement from the group here if your posts are meaningful and relevant and are created by you, using your experience.
Many of us fled LinkedIn and that kind of content because it's soapbox-y and pretentious, and come here to discuss sales, issues, etc.
So if you can bring this up in a "I read an article that mentioned these traits and found them interesting, do you agree? " with some context about why you found them interesting and if they apply to you or your experience, rather than "here's my copy paste text block that informs but does not engage" you'll do better.
That said, this isn't intended to be gatekeeping, just a suggestion for how best to engage with the group here and what's been best received.

Hey Sunbunny31,Appreciate the reply and definitely agree with your suggestion and will keep in mind as I continue on this new communication platform. I will be bringing a few things soon that will not be copied and pasted and no personal input. But for now simply feeling out what type of responses will be received from a basic posting.

Welcome! New voices are definitely appreciated. Take a look around. The other thing I'll advise is to check the search bar prior to posting to see if there's anything that's already been posted, and if what you want to post adds more value. Looking forward to hearing from you!

It doesn't make sense without any context.

You copied and pasted the section that talks about the personality types but said they were the 4 types of characteristics of a qualified sales person...

I'd encourage editing the post to include the part of the article that talks about HOW TO SELL to those types of traits...

Understood about copy and paste and was simply starting and sampling the type of responses that would come with it. Now I know and will provide my own personal experience comments or questions to this diverse group of professionals

Welcome Tim! Original content, relevant and thought out is king here. But I can see from your interactions thus far that you are open to feedback.
Best of luck.

Iโ€™m confused. Youโ€™re describing all personality types. Is this meant to be a tongue and cheek post?
