Closing long pending interview process?

Wondering how do u approach this?

Got to final stage interviews, it's been long and smooth process with 2 companies and then at the last stage when recruiter needs to put offer together, both Recruiter and HM has been pushing meetings and delaying.  Quite likely I am an expensive candidate in their pack. My guess is that they are keeping me warm while trying to progress some other candidates through the process.

how would you create sense of urgency without looking too desperate ? to move this to closure.

Whats meant for you will come for you.

I would ask “hey my timeline is coming to it’s deadline soon and was hoping for some transparency”

If you get the chance to speak with them you can ask “ what is preventing us from moving forward?”

Yep! And then just be ready for a vague answer that you will have to dig deeper on and get them to give you something real.

Or even after that question you can follow it up with exactly what you think is happening

This is a very good question - it mirrors what you'd do in a sales cycle.

Is this the only company in your hiring pipeline? how unique is the opportunity for you? If it's a "take it or leave it" role, I would give them a deadline of when you would need an offer.

I would tell them it’s been a long time since I am waiting and I have 2 other offers that I am considering now as I haven’t heard back from them. It will be great if you we have transparent communication here.

Handle this like you would when a sale you're trying to make stalls. Let them see how you run your sales process. The worst thing you can do is just "sit tight" and wait for it to happen. I would never want to hire that person for my sales team.

Great comments from the others... this is in effect a sales process, so run it like one.

One thing that may work in the right circumstances is to reach out and create urgency by highlighting what the company is missing out on from a market standpoint. I don't know your industry, but if it's B2B SaaS, something to the effect that by not filling the role, they are standing to lose X percent of the market because companies are looking for those solutions right now. If nothing else, it will give you a sense of how much the recruiting team cares or doesn't care about addressing this. This approach isn't for everyone, and you have to do some digging, but can help put some impetus.
