Day #20 of two sales jobs- thank god I have two paychecks

yesterday I asked my boss about our new payout structure whether we get paid on fridays or every two weeks. and he said we get paid monthly!

which is ass

that was never made known to me during the interview process and had I quit my last job I would not have had any money for bills the last two weeks and would definitely not make it to the 30 on my income.

I'm terrible at saving and shits so expensive these days switching jobs is always like a whole fucking crises with money for me and Im just so thankful im still milking this other position for as long as possible.

i have another AE position interview next wednesday wish me luck

In the gentlest possible way: get your feet under you, but definitely start putting some money aside each month into a savings account that you do your level best to never touch - for emergencies.

Also start 401(k) if you haven’t already, because someday you’ll be old enough to be advising kids like you and won’t regret having a solid chunk set aside to maintain a decent living.

Best of luck to you.

@ EVERYONE!

Other times I've joined company's like a week before month end and don't get paid till 3 weeks later bc of some accounting rules or whatever. Huge blind spot for me.

gotta get better at saving. We're in an industry with very high highs, and very low low's. set yourself up so that even in those low's you're still able to eat and pay your bills. I do this a few different ways.

1. Budget off of base - if I can't survive on only my base salary then I'm living outside of my means

2. Invest in your 401k - minimum enough that you get the full match from your company. this not only sets you up for your future, but also gives you an emergency fund in the absolute worst case scenario. Although cashing it out early is never advised.

3. Put at least 10% of every paycheck in savings for a rainy day. This is your emergency fund for if you lose your job. Not a vacation or new toy fund. If you budget off of your base, putting away 10% will be easy.

A lot of people love to hate on Dave Ramsey. But for the average person, with an average income, who isn't great at saving, he's a great personality to listen to and gives the best advice possible to follow. His strategy is far from the fastest way to become wealthy, but it is definitely the safest and most consistent way to build long term wealth.

Yeah I'm all about saving -

A little background on my situation

Was homeless for a year in between jobs.

Ran up my credit without a job for a year.

Moved across the country - found a warehouse job to pay basic bills, then stumbled into a failing startup with an SDR job - Barely got a place to rent for 1k/mo,

- paying Significant others bills and debts and food expenses while she lives with me 1k/mo

- paying my own basic bills of about 1k/mo

was on a base of about 2600/mo

This is all excluding credit bills so everything ran up and now I have collections after me its a nightmare.

Most months on base I could barely afford to eat this last year while still paying rent, basic utilities, groceries, food, gas.

this will be the first time this month where I can comforatbly eat and save money.

Ive put away 3k this month so far and on track to put away another 4k by end of month.

Then I will start paying down my 8k of debt and investing into some mutual funds/equity funds, dabbling again in crypto (I've doubled my parents savings there) and investing in myself.

definitely explains why you're maintaining 2 jobs then! Keep grinding man, you've got this! Awesome to see someone digging themselves out and growing themselves and their career instead of just giving up and letting bad shit keep happening to them.

I had a similar situation. It was the payday that I expected to be paid my first commission. The manager was like no, that is paid out quarterly. I said I could swear I heard we got paid a portion monthly and on the third we were paid for everything over 100%. This bugged me for a week and then I looked and it was in my offer letter. I was out of that job within a few months.

Always looking for better positions. It's a gift and a curse.

Turned out to be a commission only gig but at 40% of the sale and a seemingly easy sale - IT shit, like SEO and tech support packages.

But would be a residual thing as long as the customer stays on so pretty tempting

Bruh, you’ve got like 2-3 jobs and you’re making over $100k now (I saw your other post saying that I think) and you can’t make it to the 30th?

No judgement here, saying this for your long-term health and benefit. You gotta get that spending/saving under control. Dave Ramsey’s budgeting method saved me and my wife from destitution (we still had credit cards and we didn’t do the envelope thing either).

I’ll admit I don’t know what area you live in, who else you’re providing for, and yes, things have gotten much more expensive.

Lol no I hadnt been paid for the second job yet thats what im complaining about. This is for 55k base where if I had quit the week I started I wouldnt of been paid at all for a month. I wont be making 120k base till the end of this month technically because I wont receive a full two paychecks yet
