Did you choose Sales or it chose you?

I see amazing people frustrated and agitated arround me (in sales) their personal life is miserable  and runs around the seasonality of the sales cycle. I have had my own ups and downs but still like where I am going with all these. just wondering, is there a time you start to hate being in sales ?

Did you choose it or it chose you?

Agreed that we are chosen. I like being a 2nd Gen salesperson.

I love our craft. I’m a student and a teacher thereof. I only feel like my chosen profession has been demeaned when I see someone just batter the fuck out of the English language.

I agree with a love for the craft. My pet peeve is when people call it biz dev or the like. We are salespeople. I enjoy being a 2nd Gen salesperson with 35+ years of experience.

With an understanding of the sales game, we become efficient & effective. More importantly, we strive every day to get better at the craft. One of the best parts of all our experience, still out there pitching and showing the youngsters that we don't need to hang up our cleats.

Oh- just click the thumbs up below the reply. That’s how we earn commission around here. You can spend it in the commission store. Which was just upgraded. …keeps it sticky

Haha, needed money for gas. A store at the mall was hiring commission sales reps to sell big screen TV's. It worked out.

A little bit of both. At first, it kind of chose me but I didn’t see it as a career and I tried something else related to my educational background but it wasn’t for me and then i felt like i chose to come back to sales as a career.

Been in sales since I started knocking on doors to shovel snow at age 8.
No choice but to love it.

As in someone picked you and said , now sales is your job ? Would love to know your story … are you generally happy? Or seasonally happy 😃

I'm a generally optimistic person, so there's that. RE sales - I like talking to people and problem solving, so enterprise tech sales fits the bill nicely.
yes, I do get aggravated from time to time, but I know that would happen no matter where I go.
How sales found me? I joined a tech company last century, but as an office person. The CEO liked my phone voice and sent me over to be Sales Coordinator. I started dealing with the small customers the field rep didn't want to deal with, and was promoted into sales. And the rest is history. No career planning involved whatsoever.

I was in a capital markets role and was moved over partnerships since the start-up needed me to do it more. From there, it was sales. Just worked out for me.

@xch , introverts are best sellers , we don’t come off too pushy , and thoughtfully in concise thinking

I guess we found eachother. I knew I liked the things a salesperson does, and I liked money. Then I got a job offer from my network and liked it more than any job I've ever done.
Fuck clocking in x hours, sitting in one spot the whole time, I love the flexibility and constant challenge

Love it! What role/industry did you transition from? Are you selling in same industry where you clocked previous jobs?
