Director gives sales to Pets!

Story is that we have geo territories and then once we sell into a company it becomes a national account for us. Sales then are yours across the company nationally. Rep working the company wider and deeper at this point, call comes in for a sale and the Director gives it to the person who answered the phone, who also happens to be the favorite and best friend of the Director even though there was an existing National Account Manager on the account. This isn't my specific account or situation but this happens routinely. I think it is bull shit. Thoughts? how would you handle it if it was your National?

Hold on I'm trying to get the image of dogs running client meetings out of my head...

I would get all of your facts in order and present them as a reminder in a one on one meeting with the Director. I know it will be hard, but leave emotion out of it. See what they say.

The hardest part about this is the going around the chain of command.ย  They cling to that chain of command.ย

Yeah the best way to deal with this is head on. I like what @CuriousFoxย said about gathering the facts and presenting them in a one on one meeting.

It is annoying, annoying, annoying, annoying!ย  I don't think anything has been said, this isn't the first time for sure and instead all the reps gossip which I hate.

Another additional side bit... I really like this Director and have had some terrible ones prior.ย  I don't want to lose this director because of stupid crap and people have a glass full and love to jump on this kind of thing.ย
