Do you like links in cold sales emails?

I personally think links in that first cold email are a big no-no. What does everyone think? Please only vote if you're someone who actually gets prospceted.

If you get a cold email with links in it, are you more likely to ignore the email?

It depends on what the link is tbh. I've seen many SDRs getting a meeting on their calendar through the "Book a Meeting" calendly link in their first email. They were at the right place at the right time with that prospect, so it worked.

I understand the apprehension of including links in the very first cole outreach though. I wouldn't do it in the first one. But will definitely include it in the second or third, to track click-rates at least.

I use it because it allows me to track the click rate. I don’t have many links though.

I'm not clicking on your link, and if you need me to go look at something else outside of your email on the first one, you're not getting to the point quickly enough.

Links get sent after contact when discussed. Unasked/unsolicited links are auto spam to me.

That's my approach as well. "Here's more detail on what we've been discussing" rather than "check this out!"

Links kill the deliverability of your emails and will get you flagged as spam in Gmail if you're not constantly warming your inbox.

I’d add that sending links in initial cold outreach is more likely to end up in your buyers spam inbox.

Links will sometimes get shit stuck in spam filters. Links are a no-go on cold outreach

doesn't particularly matter for me - if you don't have a concise opener and subject line I'm deleting.

I never click on any links in a cold email.

If I want to check out the company, I’ll type the company’s url myself.

Spam filters tend to block most emails with links in them. That's why I removed any pictures or links.

If it’s someone I’m connected to somehow (e.g. on LinkedIn) and it’s only to set up a time to chat (calendly) that would be the only exception to clicking on a link for me. Otherwise, I simply don’t for fear it could be malware..

I try to avoid cold sales calls/emails whenever I can. Instead I try to warm things up BEFORE even reaching out to a decision maker. I will often reach out to someone in sales within their company and ask for some Intel on the person I need to speak to. This often gives me much more insight, and many time a warm intro through internal email or Slack. If not I will follow them on social media for a few days and comment on their posts before reaching out. A link in a profile is much less suspicious than one in a cold email.

Nope, many people now may think that links are unsafe especially from someone they didn't know before.

The only thing that would let me send one is with prospects that already know me or at least sent them more than an email before and told me that they were interested!

I’m trying to start a conversation not get you to read my website, so I don’t see the point of including a link. Although, my Calendly link is usually in my signature, but no cta to it.

Sending to government contacts? Absolutely not.
Sending to most people? Maybe. But for a first email, I find it's best when it's a few sentences tops and a relevant call to action for their interest.
