Does double tapping really work?

I think that's the phrase for it? Calling a customer twice in a row. I know they're likely more apt to pick up, but are they usually pissed? As someone who get's a lot of prospecting calls, I'll ignore it. Maybe I'm a jerk. I know some of you have had success with it, but feels like another deception.

Listen, it can go really, really wrong and piss people off. But it 100% allows you to bypass the Do Not disturb settings on iPhones and most other phones.

I used it get cold, outbound deals and I used to get it blanket banned.

Its a cheap tactic, but can work. Don't expect much from it though.

I think it depends on who you're targeting. If you heavily rely on calling people's personal cell phones then no way.

I'd say no. For me best way is call then email then LinkedIn. Repeat. Then repeat again. And then that's it... For 6-8 months

If they give you gruff just say that it disconnected on your end and automatically redialed...while I have you...

They don't know your life, it's not lying if they can't prove it.

As someone who get a lot of cold outreach from sellers I HATE this approach.

If you want my attention don’t just call repeatedly.

Call me once and if I don’t answer get something in front of me in text. Doesn’t matter if it’s text, email, or LI. At minimum leave a very short voicemail.

You don’t find a sms text a bit invasive compared to other options?

Ditto. To me it's manipulative. Sales reps and real estate agents do it to me all the time.

They were usually more pissed in my experience, tried it for a bit as an SDR, got me connections, but hardly any good ones

not a fan of it though but I do like following up an email with an immediate call if they are opening it.

Double tap totally works. Think about how you react to a number you don't know. Ignore. If I see the same number call twice in a row I will generally pick up.

If people are pissed (some will be) I always say something like "Apologies for the urgency, I wasn't sure my first call came through, I may have bad service right now. I wanted to call again to leave you a voicemail. But now that I connected with you..."

This generally works really well. Make it your own.

No. It’s too pushy & a little tacky. Leave a brief voicemail and (if you have an email) email them recapping your outreach and set expectations for your next follow up to heighten the chance of them answering or at least being prepared for you to reach out multiple times.

If you're calling a cell and it goes directly to voicemail do it. The direct-to-voicemail during the day most likely means they have notifications silenced. The second call will go through.

I've used this tactic many times as a BDR. It feels super uncomfortable, but it can work well. It can also backfire terribly. If you're gonna do it you better have done your research and have a good/funny reason why you called them twice in a row.

No necessarily right or wrong... just remember that everything matters. The way you approach and represent affect the brand offering.

only ever heard bdrs claim it works.

only seemed to end in dq'd meetings or no shows.

always appeared to be more about inflating activity metrics than anything else.

How to be a salesy person with no value without telling people....

Why not just call your list at X time of the day. And then, call that same list again later in the day?

Depends on demographic you’re trying to reach. If it’s direct to customer, cold, you’re playing the law of averages, then sure it’s effective in increasing contact rate. Just make sure your first impression is equally effective!

Might piss some people off but I’d say “didn’t know if my first call came through” as a way to de-escalate
