Social selling only works if your prospects are social. As per usual, go where the clients are.

Social selling works for influencers - not normal people at a scalable and repeatable rate.

It might still be a worthwhile play depending on your space/niche. A public brand is essentially the modern rolodex and can get you introductions and referrals in a passive way over the long term. However depending on what you're selling it very well might not be the highest ROI activity.

It could be - in our supply chain sector there are only about 8% of prospects on LinkedIn.

If I was selling holistic medicine - then yeah maybe Facebook to sling products.

most social selling gurus on linkedin sell to sales people where in my indutsry its all IT focused personas, where IT personas are not on linkedin like sales people. I do see some sucess with direct messaging with relevance, engage with the prospects content. Phone rules all at the end of the day for me.

I'd say it really depends on the role/persona. IT managers and directors, CISOs and the likes are usually on LinkedIn in major countries. The lowest you go in the pyramid, the less chances are they have an active LI profile though. The way I use it, LinkedIn is only good to get in, once I get their attention I move out of linkedIn.

I'm able to generate a probably 3-5 meetings a month from linkedin. I don't spam or go crazy. I try to connect with a prospect, once they accept the connection....wait a week, then send a video introducing myself and casually saying we should chat sometime based around whatever your selling, not the product or service itself (30 seconds max). They viewed my profile so they understand what I am selling.

It works if you can nail messaging. I'm not one to post publicly on LinkedIn but I use LI messages / voice messages a lot and they work if you're super targeted and know the pains of your prospects well.

In my case, I dig through annual reports and ctfl+f "risks" (might have a lot to go through if you're dealing with Financial Services firms) and relate how my product can mitigate those risks.
