Drug Test for Arrow Electronics

So I was just told that if I accepted a role at Arrow that I would have to take a drug test. Why are companies still doing drug tests, especially with remote roles? Do you think they would care if I popped hot for marijuana, especially if I have a med card? I haven't heard of companies drug testing for sales roles in a long time. Somewhat invasive in my opinion

That's a good question. I don't know why companies drug test for a sales role. Aren't we all on drugs of some sort?

Not sure why being remote matters...

But I think it's something you discreetly bring up to HR. If you mention you live in a legal state and have a medical card you'll probably be ok. I think they're looking for "hard drugs" not THC.

It's insane that it's legal in certain states and people have med cards, but companies still drug test. I highly doubt 21k employees pissed clean

Yup. I'd imagine a med card would keep you safe. Given the lack of federal legalization in the US, legality in your state may not matter.

Arrow Electronics (if we are talking about the same company) does all the different gambling devices so they probably fall under a lot of government oversight and would require a lot more vetting.

Well MJ is still illegal at the Federal level and in many states, so there is that.... AE has Federal contracts so they have to align with certain guidelines, laws, and rules.

I have a personal thing against drugs, so I PERSOANLLY wouldn't want a recreational drug user on my team.If you have a legit medical card, that's another thing.

I would try to give a call with the HR Recruiter. Ask some questions about orientation or something, then filter in questions about the drug test. Dont say why you are asking just ask the questions you need

And dont put in your notice until you know for sure

I only ask because I don't know, but how would a Work Comp injury be handled if you're hurt while working remotely? Would their drug test policy be related to that?
