Dumb shit you hear in sales

What is with sales reps using company lingo and saas sales speak when talking to prospects?
Or worse- abbreviations.  why tf would you think that this CISO knows what an SDR or CSM is?

why are they saying "lighthouse features" or referring to business priorities as "north stars". stop. if you're one of thos reps- stop.

But how else are you going to increase the MRR while controlling the CAC. How else are you supposed to get that bluebird from TOFU to BOFU?

It's not always going to be a laydown, but man that hockey stick growth looks so good. Just gotta commit and stop letting time kill the deal.

That's the kind of growth that also occurs for Canadians at a certain type of establishment...

Well when I talk MRR with my CRO we usually look at the KPIs laid out in front of the SDRs. IF the SSEs create the SOWs we can all get a piece of the ARR, even CS and OPS. But I mean that's from 30k at the EOD and no AE wants to get lost in the weeds and spin their wheels.

Sell like your prospect is in 4th grade. If they want to get technical, let them direct the convo there. Simplicity wins majority of the time.

I like it! And lean on technical cross functional teams for those conversations that get into the weeds

Just had this happen TODAY. A colleague introduces at the SDR in our team to a customer meeting... without any further explanation what that means.. I think it`s just that many people, including slaes people, are plain lazy and don`t bother to think for a bit what they say and how that lands across..

Best to introduce the people and what they are responsible for as a matter of practice. This in turn encourages your prospect to do the same thing - what they are in charge of, which leads to what matters to them. That info is gold.

If you are going to do this at least explain what you are abbreviating first so they don't feel totally lost but yeah try not to do this

Maybe, but why use sales jargon or refer to company hierarchy with one?

Simplicity wins, but you have to balance being credible and then your audience. If they're super technical and they know the abbreviations, then you're fine. If you're talking to someone who isn't in the line of business you sell to (finance, HR, etc) then dumb it down.

Agreed. At the same time, avoid the stuff you are not well versed in then tag in the ones who are

Certainly some internal acronym are not acceptable in customer conversations. But the average Joe knows things like csm and such.
Just don’t use ones that are rare and you’re good.
