To check everything. Emails, proposals, meeting times, meeting attendees, demo decks - everything.

So true, and not realized by many.
I'd add equipment too. VGA, HMDI, DVI - any redundancy cable when flying out somewhere to present an RFP response. There is NO wiggle room.
And charger, laptop etc. But I can't be the only one who brings a Radio Shack worth of cables

Where to park when you get there, how long getting temp access/badge takes. All of it.

Took that once. I was arrested in a Speedo after asking the gift shop clerk for bowling lessons with grandpa. Scary shit

That sometimes it is out of your hands. You could do everything right, kill the presentation, have the best pricing, etc. but you just get beat.

Sounds obvious, but practice makes perfect. When selling a technical product, I practiced my demos over and over and over until they were nice and smooth. Rest of the reps on my team sounded choppy, would get lost in demos, or panic after the first semi-technical question.
It paints the picture that you dont even know your own software, and if you don't know it, why would the customer bother getting to know it?

Realizing that not everyone buys the way I buy was a light bulb moment. Learn the different buyer types and adapt.

Account Executive - Mid enterprise
I recently changed companies. I started my mock calls. And I kept saying, I am XXX, an Account Executive with "Previous company".
It felt as if I am still hung up on an ex. Ex company in this case. And that I haven't moved on yet lol.
