Error in Commission Payout

What's up war room! Long time lurker, first time poster looking for advice. 
I'm based in Canada where we're taxed out the ass. Company mistakenly paid me $34k commission and $14k of that was withheld from good ol' government. 
When I pointed out the error to my commissions team, they asked me to send them full $34k back. I obviously can't send what I don't have. 
Recommended courses of action here?

They need to figure that out. It's their mistake. Watch them like a hawk too.

That is ON THEM to figure out what the total amount is to reconcile. Certainly isn’t pre tax

often times, I’ve seen it come back to them in installments, not simply a check back.

its easy for them to work the delta. don't send it back. help them do the math as well if it helps. i wouldnt rely on them to do the math.

Burden is definitely on them to figure out. Push for a repayment plan - obscene to ask for it all back in one sum. 

They can get fucked on the tax as well.

Explain what happened It's not your fault, you should not pay them. I'd ask a canadian lawyer for advice to see what would be the best course of action.

They made the mistake so let them rectify this first before you give them the money. Verify your ADP or CRA to see if this have been rectified orelse you MIGHT fall in the increased taxable bracket.

Yeah, it seems really off.  Like, where do they think that $14K went?  You don't have it.  They're the ones who handed it over to the government.  They can go get it back.

it is definitively not your fault, they need to negotiate at least with you, but you don't have to pay others mistakes. Best of lucks with this matter

It also sucks that we transact in USD and don’t accept CAD.. Conversion back will be a bitch. Thinking of just asking them to withhold future commissions after I do the math for them.
