Got the WARN from large tech company, as my entire division was being eliminated. Less than two weeks later, a panicked phone call from an SVP at SKO, asking if I'd come work directly for him and manage his ownership of the same solution that I'd been selling for years and ONLY THE PEOPLE IN MY DIVISION knew how to sell. I ended up with a month off, full OTE pay, and coming into one of the most chaotic but fun years of my career. First thing I did was "save" my boss $3M in his recurring book of business by sorting out improperly attributed renewals. Earned a champion for life.

Does this count? I kept my paid internship after graduating in 2020 because well, it was impossible to find any job. They offered me a full-time position which I denied because I wanted to be in tech. They fired me the next day.
This taught me a big life lesson. To SAVE. I told myself that if I ever get fired again, I would have at least six months of savings.

Not in sales but when I was 18 I got fired from a job moving parcels (think amazon fulfilment worker) at a warehouse 2 hours before I was due to finish my last ever shift as I was going to university. I think the boss just wanted to fire me instead of letting me finish out.
Looks like factory work wasn't for me, good thing sales pays a hell of a lot more.

Never been fired or laid off. I have quit a couple of jobs, but that's it.
never thankfully. i really think ive just been lucky.
There are certainly lucky circumstances, I’ve been laid off twice in my career most recently in December, luckily I have quickly bounced back both times and I’m this case I got a bump in salary and better org with it.

I was working at a college cafeteria, it was 3 strikes and you are out with shifts missed. I already missed 2 and I didn't want to go in. Knew I was going to get fired if I missed that day, so just called to quit since I never wanted to say I have been fired before.
Like when a girl is about to break up with you and you get the hint so you say it's not working out... lol
Nope never, had a long tenure in my first job which i left because i was immigrating and only on my second now.
Been laid off, came real close to being fired for a stupid mistake but thankfully that didn't happen.

1) In college I was fired as a hotel maintenance technician because plants that I was being told to plant in front of an exhaust fan for the AC kept dying. I said "you can't fire me because I quit" because I was a brash 20 year old.
2) I used to work for an Embassy and I got wind that there was going to be a global reduction in force, so I high tailed it. Two months later they let everyone go.

Well, according to the poll, 71% have been fired/let go/laid off and 29% are liars... It's never easy, know that it's happened to almost any salesperson and you won't be the last one. Companies that are for profit will always need salespeople.
