Feb 7 2023 I was laid off- cost cutting measure: Here's the net result of that manuever.

I took this gig in December of 21. Running a small FinTech SaaS deal with 12 US sellers and an offshore BD team in the Phillipines. By May I was ramped. Processes built. On the way to 20 reps and things were going very fast. I was running most of the year at 90%-93% of an arbitrary goal. But a goal it was.

In 2021 they did $7.2M net money in the door. In 2022 we did $10.1M. 7 figures to 8 figures by my math, but they didn't share the P&L, so I had no idea what this meant for profitability. It must have been good because they threw $1M at developing a new product. Things were pretty rosie.

But, they clocked me in early February of this year. They thought they could use the process I built. No need to pay me anymore.

90 days later the rev is off nearly 50%. These screenshots courtesy of internal mole.

This is 5/26 2022 vs 5/26 2023 MTD collected rev. $630k v $339k

They're choking. Am I wrong to wish them more battery acid in their face?

Is It wrong as a general feeling, no. It sucks they let you after reaping the benefits of your labor. But maybe it was a true cost cutting exercise, you never really know.

I hate wishing bad things on people, only success for me. Donโ€™t be a crab, but you can use it as affirmation of you and your process

Canโ€™t disagree, and it is not something that will be helpful in life. I choose pity rather than spite.

Too big too fast. 20 reps is A LOT! Iโ€™d guess theyโ€™re about to reach the end of the runway and they canโ€™t raise more $$ to extend it.

I donโ€™t even care enough to send one of those โ€œturd in a bagโ€ things to their front door for $39.99 with anonymous overnight delivery and photo proof. I donโ€™t.

I definitely understand the bitterness. I had a sales rep for a former employer reach out to me recently, trying to sell me. That former employer liquidated 60% of the company back in 2019. I never responded to his inquiry half out of spite, half out of not having a need for the solution.

Schadennfreude is a beautiful thing, but holding on to a grudge can be devastating. It's amazing what can happen when you no longer care about people who have wronged you.

Only wrong because that'll eat you alive from the inside out. Mourne it for a period of time and then wish them the best and forgive them for their stupidity. Unfortunately, unless they are wishing they hadn't let you go, you're the only one wasting brain space on it.

Move on. This business is brutal. Onward and upward with a memory like a hamster is the only way to go....easier said than done.

FEELINGS- Your commission is annual (ARR) but the customer paid monthly (MRR) and if there is a churn in the next few months, the company will deduct by increasing your quota and taking the equivalent amount $$ from your quota in the next month.

Target has been increased by 5x, and the commission against that has been reduced significantly. How do you work with something like this?
