Hey sales pals- Got my first interview tomorrow with a top pick company in the industry I work in (PropTech). I'm super excited, the comp sounds about right from a friend of mine who is in sales at this company. Here's the kickers-
- If the interview progresses to future meetings I know they will be in touch with my current employer
- I'm astronomically behind my annual goal (let's just say I'm in the red, ain't happenin)
- My manager has shared with me in the last few months that they did set the bar for me as the first AE hire WAY too high
Disclaimer: I'm the top performing rep at the company.........still in the danger zone
I would love some opinions on how to approach this. Do I just focus on the positives on what I've accomplished? I'm legitimately concerned if they ONLY speak with my current employer they might make me out to be a mediocre rep or maybe worse than that.
Anyone been in this boat in deep waters?
