Just had an interview

Just finished an interview, one of the questions I asked was, can you tell me a little bit about the team and the company culture. She responded with "I'm not allowed to answer that". Which I thought was super odd.

Like thats a normal question right?

If I get to the next round do I keep interviewing there or is that a ๐Ÿšฉ?

๐Ÿšฉ or normal

I mean that is weird, but idk. Maybe don't make it a huge flag for yourself and see if you can ask again next interview.

Are you moving to the next round? Maybe ask the next person - HR/hiring may not be allowed to answer questions about that, as it's possibly viewed as an opinion and/or the team makeup is being changed.

Not sure yet, just finished the interview, but I didnt get the best vibes from her reaction when I asked that question, but that makes sense since it was just a first round.

Yeah, thatโ€™s a bit weird, but now of course Iโ€™m super curious about what theyโ€™re hiding. Itโ€™s your duty to take the next interview and find out.

Kinda weird. Probably not a deal breaker, but I'd immediately be reading their glassdoor reviews, sorted by lowest rated.

thats good advice, but Idk if id be able to find anything, like its a decently sized company with 2100 employees and like I use their products. Everyone in here would know the company thats what makes it even weirder that she wouldn't answer it

we'll see what happens if I get to the next round, it could be bc she was just the recruiter and since its a relatively large company she actually just might not know what the culture is like for that team. And I think she's remote, but my team would be hybrid in office.

If that was an HR rep, I'd take it as weird, but not necessarily a red flag. If that was the hiring manager, I'd bow out.

Huge red flag, any place I've seen that has a good culture wants to talk about it because it takes a lot of work!

There might be some things that they've left for their other colleagues to answer more in-depth or they were told to only keep it to a certain script of things.
Not a huge red flag, but if you keep getting stonewalled like that then I'd decline.
