wanted your guys opinion here. currently I work for an SI partner in the meantime until the tech industry gets more stable or I find a great company with great PMF.
I recently had an interview with another SI (not happy where I am at). I'm pretty well connected with the people at the saas company we implement for, I got to the panel killed it, multi-threaded very well and the hiring manager was keen on hiring me for the role.
SI partners put a lot of emphasis on your channel relationships. we spoke about a lot of similar people we knew but I was very specific on where I stood with each person, didnt embellish relationships, and was careful to not mention people who i know wouldn't say nice things about me.
without my permission they reached out to a few leaders in the space that align to me and said "your relationships aren't as strong as we like because one of our contacts in the channel does not use you on a consistent basis". they ended up passing on me because of this.
that seems like the HR version of someone talked shit about me or a bullshit excuse. I don't think someone saying "oh yeah we know him - we just don't use him right now" is a good enough reason to pass on a candidate when I didn't embellish or lie about where I stand with anyone.
I think either they are lying or someone really did talk shit about me - which bothers me a ton because I've worked very hard to build a great reputation.
what do you all think?
