How long should the legal department take?

I feel like my legal department is taking far too long to turn around contract redlines. Our standard MSA/SOW is 16 pages, title pages included. We have about 10 sacrificial pushback clauses, and all the reps know where our entrenchment points are on these, so we can negotiate authoritatively. All contracts need to go through legal, and legal has a standard turnaround of 6-10 calendar days, even if there are only standard modifications. Average deal size is $1.5m-$3m.

Is six to ten days too long?

How long should they take? A couple of hours, but nobody in legal likes to be efficient with time.

well... they charge by the hour and everything rounds up. *one or twelve more proof reads should do the trick"

In theory, a couple hours for a simple contract like that. BUT...
How many are they going through?
What else are they doing?
Lots of questions, but it sounds like your Legal needs to empower someone else to move simple things through faster.

Yes, but thatโ€™s pretty normal for the industry (nearshore engineers). Biggest deal Iโ€™ve done was $37m over 3 years. Iโ€™m working on one now that could hit about $80m over 3 years, which would be a life changing commission.

People.

I sell NearShore software engineering services. We have several thousand senior and architect software engineers in LATAM, and we put them on long term projects with companies in the US.
