How to deal with Vertigo while working

Hey All. I've been kind of MIA the last month and a bit because I have been battling with vertigo and other eye related problems. Basically, if I join a meeting with more than one person I tend to get dizzy and nauseous. If I wear headphones to make calls or just use my cell against my ear, I tend to violently throw up. If I write emails or other admin duties I get dizzy and nauseous. Basically, I can hardly do my job at work. I took the last two weeks off in hopes this would help and to a point it did. But my symptoms got pretty bad last night during a work meeting. And before anyone asks, I am seeing doctors to figure out what is going on, as well as taking different meds, and seeing a physio therapist.

I'm curious if anyone else has had to deal with something like this and what did you do to overcome it. My company is great with giving me the time I need to get rested, but they can only stay patient for so long. I am also having to train two new employees in the up coming week.

Already am. Have tried 5 different medications, went to physio to see if it's the little crystals in the ears that are causing the problems only to find out that one eye tracks slower than the other, waiting for a referral for a ENT Doctor. I swear, if I was one of the racehorses that I owned, I would have been shot by now. lol

Had experience with the crystal shits being out of place. Probably off and on for a good ~2 year period. That was some extreme vertigo I experienced, so I totally feel your pain. Hope you get better!

How did you end up getting it fixed and was there anything you did that made it better?

It kind of just went away. I found that anxiety kind of made it worse too unless that was my brain telling myself it made it worse haha. But, I said fuck it and still drank way too much coffee increasing anxiety.

There's some maneuver you can do where you lay down on your side to and put your head into different positions. That actually seemed to work. Maybe I started doing that more often? Not totally sure.

Sorry to hear that, I am kind of running into something with my left eye. Woke up this morning to it being puffy as shit, sore and not really blurry vision but it feels tired. Probably stress related but we will see tomorrow if it goes away

Thanks. Hopefully it's not pinkeye. Cause that sort of sounds like the beginning of it. Somehow I ended up with pinkeye in both eyes when I was living in South Korea. I blamed my little puppy cause he probably farted on my pillows. lol

Thanks, weird part is that it is my eyelid on the top and right in the corner of my eye. My concern is that it may be a stye that I have had before and hurt like hell.

Damn, I hope the symptoms subside quickly.
Does using speakerphone and looking away from the screen help any?

I got my bose speaker hooked up for meetings. I forgot to mention that I have about 50% hearing in my left ear. lol Looking away sort of helps but at the same time doesn't if that makes sense. Same with closing my eyes and trying to take a minute.

For the first half of this post, I thought you were making a long winded joke that working makes you physically ill because you hate it.

sorry to hear that it’s a real issue for you. Hopefully you have sick time, or you may have to look into FMLA. Fingers crossed it doesn’t come to that. Feel better.

I wish this was a joke. lol But on the bright side just got the call for the ENT doctor appointment. Just have to wait 1.5 weeks before the initial visit.
