Before paying for something like Rosetta Stone, check your library system and whether membership gets you access. I can get free language courses through mine. Mango Languages I think.
Gets you a solid baseline before investing in anything.

Oh yea. Larger library systems have so much available most people don't realize. That's why I keep up my Toronto membership despite moving outside the city.

You should double check. Even my small town has some of that available, including free provincial park passes.
The big city had so damn much, so I double dip.

Definitely worth it. Also see if they use Libby - it allows you to check out ebooks. So many options and a lot easier than actually getting to a library to check out and return.

Anything I could expense out and then return, unless I really felt there was value in what I could get. I can spend $1200 in many better ways than a course or books.

What do you want to do? Sometimes itโ€™s about what youโ€™d like to learn. Iโ€™d personally value language over certification, but thatโ€™s an individual preference.

Good recoโ€™s here but it depends what area youโ€™d like to improve. Are you looking for more personal (as you said learn a new language or maybe thatโ€™s for work?)

Or are you in a specific industry in tech that you want to learn more about? Ex: are you working in a pretty technical industry (dealing with data scientists, cloud infastructure, finops leaders?) if youโ€™re looking to learn more about the industry you are in - let us know and happy to provide some insights/recoโ€™s.

If youโ€™re looking to learn how to sew, get better at golf, etc - then you probably have that one covered.

Or are you looking for sales development? (Yes, can pick up some good books or take a course - many are free and honestly you can learn a ton Iโ€™d say from podcasts - as Iโ€™m sure many of us could reccomend some too). Force management is an incredible sales training but also has to be done at a company level (individual ones available through their ascender - but as someone who has access to it Iโ€™m not entirely sure itโ€™s worth it as much you can learn free).

Maybe if you have an avenue from the above - we could be a bit more helpful:) @themamba

Sales courses would be the obvious answer. I don't want to recommend any in particular, but there are some that are genuinely good.
Also, would an improv class fit within the budget? I found this to translate very well into sales.
