How to succeed cold calling through main office lines?

I'm fairly new to cold calling

I'm reaching out to Advertising agencies and need to speak with mid-seniors to set up an intro call. We're sourcing our leads from seamless and it's mostly main office lines. It goes to VMs almost 99% of the times. Else receptionist won't let it through etc.

  • Any other way to engage with these prospects besides calls.
  • Any tool recommendations for cell phones which is not too expensive

Lastly, how to best approach prospects via LI. Here is what I do:

Send a connect request with no notes as that didn't work for me. Followed by a 2 liner with a bit of text around the pain point and a ask?

Would love your guys input

Company directories are your friend, if you can find them. Try hitting '9' or '#'.

I've found being personable and friendly, as well as using your first name instead of first and last can really help.

Apollo.io lets you request mobile numbers, differing amounts depending on the plan, and then you can add more credits every month for an additional cost.

Itโ€™s very difficult to reach someone in the first attempt. Keep trying and donโ€™t expect everyone will answer the call. How many calls are you making?

Do you send out any emails after calling stating that hey that was me who tried calling followed by your pitch?

This is a part-time gig so making about 50 calls a day. I'm not sending emails but I'm guessing the marketing team is. I usually start with another set of 50 the next day - what should be the ideal buffer before I call the previous 50 batch again?

Itโ€™s all about experimentation - beta testing two versions. Most of us like to put contacts on a sequential cadence where we try to leverage all outreach mediums whether itโ€™s a call, email, linkedin etc.

I'm thinking that most Zoominfo numbers are work mobiles, FWIW.

ZI has good direct contact data depending on where in the world you are. Iโ€™ve had success with Lusha as a more cost effective alternative.

Getting through company lines can be difficult, there isnโ€™t one answer, but my very short advice is to not speak about what youโ€™re selling at all, if youโ€™re pitching any amount between the ring and getting to your prospect, you are decreasing the chance of getting there.

I also sell to agencies, it's been very tough lately. Stress levels might be high, as I've started getting a higher than usual number of pissed off responses telling me not to spam them. (which always cracks me up coming from a marketer)
