How to tell my manager to step aside?

Hi guys, this is my first post ever here. I take the opportunity to ask something to the community.

I joined this company 6 months ago with the mission of starting up a new market in Europe. The first 3 months went all good, in full collaboration mode with my manager. Now, he is stepping aside in implication. I feel that this is no longer his priority, which make us lose lots of momentum in the market. The solution for me is clear: he should step aside officially and I -or someone else- needs tio take full responsability solely in this market.

How can I tell him that? any of you had a similar situation?

Thanks!!

Approach this like a dying deal. Do you still view this initiative as a priority for our business and your personal investment? If not, I am fully prepared and THIS IS MY PLAN.

The plan part is crucial. What is your 6/12/18 month plan to drive success. Without a plan you are just complaining.

Iโ€™d do this. It is professional, to the point, but not disrespectful.

Having a plan is great practice, regardless. Always have a plan.

Great advice. Also shows proactivity which is the first step always. Thanks!

Ask him if the EU is still his priority. Tell him he is the bottle neck. Agree he should be less involved. Let him know that for the important partners/prospects above x EUR you will involve him.

Cant you just step up and take control? Is your manager getting in the way?

I'm also interested in why you can't just keep moving forward, and why there's a perception that the manager needs to step aside.

Agreed, I think itโ€™s time for a frank and open conversation. He may not see that heโ€™s slowing the momentum.

As a bonus, handling a conversation like this shows youโ€™ve got what it takes to be a manager too.

Approach it as though you are presenting something to a new client. Ask him what is his thoughts on this new endeavor, don't assume that it's no longer a priority, there might be other factor that may need his immediate attention.

Show him your plan and play the ego game. It goes a little something like this: Hey John I understand that you may be extremely busy with everything on you plate seeing that it's 4th quarter, but I was wondering if I may have a few minutes of your time to run some ideas on starting this new European market?

If we start making moves now it can have us run out the gate and boots to the ground in Q1 2024. And here I quantified some numbers that will support this move which will have you at the fore front of everyone in this company.

Allow me to get the ball rolling on this project so that you may continue to focus on locking down Q4 and I will set you up like a missile. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain and I do all the leg work.

In this example your playing to his ego, allowing him to believe he is making the decision, while you pull all the strings. Making him feel like a fool and telling him to step aside would crush his ego and ultimately get you canned. But when you do it in the reverse your still telling him to get out of the was but in a nicer way.

This is only a format, you will ultimately have to come up with words but all the best.

Welcome, to your first post. "

he is stepping aside in implication" - sorry, so he is stepping aside? I might be mixed up here. He is stepping aside but not officially, which is hurting momentum. What difference would it make if he steps aside officially?

Tell him it feels like he is distancing himself from the sales process in EU and bring solutions IE.( Someone new coming in) if it is showing success and needs headcount to make it work.
