How to warm up potential employer

Had an interview Today after my recent layoff.

Interview was with the company founder. Afterwards he said he needs to discuss internally and get back to me within the week.

I am approaching this like a normal sales case and I need to warm him up to push things further. Should I send:

1- Thank you email after 2/3 days and emphasis my skills and experience, why they should hire me

2- Send an email asap with reference letters from previous employers

3- Both 1 and 2

4- Do nothing

What would you recommend? :)

Go with #1, but don't wait 2/3 days, do it later today. #2 show you to be desperate and that doesn't look good. #4 is the worst thing to do, but still better than spamming.

Send the thank you within 24 hours and leave it there. Do not send references.

However, ask an open ended question that show you took your notes and prompts a response.

They call me Daddy, Sales Daddy
#1 - do it same day, or within 24hrs..... this isn't some skank you met at a bar so the 3 day rule does not apply.
#2 - don't send references until they ask
#3 - simply send a note saying "thank you for your time", etc. and maybe highlight 2-3 strengths which came up in the call or maybe something which came to mind right after the call which pertains to the conversation. Keep it short and concise though.

You should ideally send thank you/follow up same day.

And, establish in the meeting when you can follow up if you haven't heard.

Sending references proactively is too much.

Did you ask a closing question in the interview?

There was no oppening for this role so it’s total “outbound”. I am
basically getting them to create the role for me hence I am taking it slow. Will go with a version of option 1.

Definitely don’t stop hunting. You’re likely to get to the final interview a few times and be turned down. Don’t stop applying and taking interviews until you start your next role.

Send a quick thank you and mention something about your experience and their product and why you're passionate about selling that product or in that space.

End of day or early next morning an email to thank them. Mention you're open to provide references or answer additional questions

People love to talk about thank you letters, but you should leave the meeting knowing what next steps are.
If you don't, or they don't commit to a next meeting, they are weighing their options or seeing if something better comes along.

In my experience, a thank you note comes off as aggressive and trying to force the issue. More often than not, jobs that I moved forward with I never sent anything after the fact. Had next steps established, and there was no mystery.

It's a common fact. If people are interested, they won't wait.
